Vietnam Immigration department will stop granting 2-month and 3-month visa extensions for those who entered Vietnam by tourist visa (categorized as DL) from 5 September. DL visa holders submitting visa extension after September 4th will be received maximum 1-month approval.
As the latest update from Vietnam immigration department, Vietnam visa extension program will be change after September 5th. This change will take effect on those who currently hold tourist visa only. For those who entered Vietnam by business visa, visiting relative or working visa, visa exemption or temporary resident card, the rule is still the same. These cases still can apply for 3-month visa extension to prolong the stay in Vietnam.
For the tourist visa holders, in case you want to apply 3-month visa, please submit visa extension before 5th September if you want to get another 3-month extension. If you take action later than the deadline, you will need to extend monthly.
