Deputy Minister of Health of Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Truong Son has just signed Document No. 1265/BYT-DP on COVID-19 prevention and control for people entering Vietnam. Accordingly, foreigners and Vietnamese when entering Vietnam will no longer need to be quarantined as before.
On March 15, 2022, Vietnam opened tourism to welcome tourists back after more than 2 years of closure. In order to continue implementing the policy of “safe adaptation, flexibility, and effective control of the COVID-19 epidemic”, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam has issued guidance on implementing measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic for people entering Vietnam.
One of the most important things approved is that, foreigners and Vietnamese people after entering Vietnam will not need to be quarantined from March 15, 2022. However, they still have to meet the following requirements for Covid-19 prevention regulations:
– For people entering by air: Must have negative test results for SARS-CoV-2 (except for children under 2 years old) within 72 hours before departure if using RT-PCR / RT-LAMP method or within 24 hours if using rapid antigen test method and certified by the competent authority of the country performing the test.
– For people entering by land border, seaport: Must have Covid-19 test the same as people entering by air. In case the Covid-19 test has not been taken yet, the test must be performed within the first 24 hours (by RT-PCR/RT-LAMP method or by rapid antigen test method since entry.
If the test result is negative, visitor is allowed to leave the accommodation and still have to take preventive measures against the epidemic according to regulations. If the test result is positive, it must be reported immediately to the local health authority for instructions.
– Children under 2 years old: are not required to be tested for SARS-CoV-2, have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 or have never been infected with SARS-CoV-2 are also allowed to enter with parents and relatives.
People entering Vietnam must make a medical declaration before entering and use the medical declaration application (PC-COVID) during their stay in Vietnam according to regulations. At the border gate if you have symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 infection (fever; cough; sore throat; runny nose, stuffy nose; body aches, fatigue, chills; decrease or loss of taste; decrease or loss of sense of smell; pain; headache; diarrhea; difficulty breathing; respiratory infection, etc.) should immediately notify the health agency at the border gate for medical measures as prescribed.
Within 10 days from the entry date, people entering Vietnam will self-monitor their health, if there are symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 infection (fever; cough; sore throat; runny nose, stuffy nose; body aches, fatigue, chills; decrease or loss of taste; decrease or loss of sense of smell; pain; headache; diarrhea; difficulty breathing; respiratory infection, etc.) must immediately notify the nearest medical facility in order to get guidance, management, implementation of disease prevention measures, regularly wearing masks, washing hands.
For those who have not had negative Covid-19 test before entering Vietnam, during moving from the entry border to the accommodation, limit stopping and parking along the road; avoid close contact with people around.
