Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam – Mr. Pham Binh Minh – has just sent a document to relevant departments, agreeing to the policy of facilitating entry procedures for foreigners and Vietnamese residing abroad to return home with relatives.
Accordingly, for foreigners, overseas Vietnamese and their relatives with valid entry documents (valid permanent residence card, temporary residence card, visa or visa exemption certificate) can enter Vietnam according to the provisions of the Law on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam and Decree No. 82/2015/ND-CP of the Government without having to re-apply visa, visa exemption certificate, entry approval from Provincial People Committee.
At the same time, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just decided to increase the frequency of international flights to Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China and Singapore. For routes from France, Germany, the UK and Russia, after getting approval from Ministry of Transport, the Civil Aviation Administration will also announce the plan to organize flights to these markets.
The Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam is promoting negotiations with aviation authorities of countries and territories that are implementing plans to resume regular international flights with Vietnam and increase the frequency of flights under suitable conditions to meet the entry needs of foreigners into Vietnam and the demand returning home of overseas Vietnamese.
Previously, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, all foreigners, regardless of whether they have valid Vietnamese temporary residence card or valid visa exemption certificate, still have to apply an “entry permit” and visa to be able to enter Vietnam. However, when the epidemic situation had positive changes, the Vietnamese government is starting to gradually restore international flights and have a roadmap to welcome international tourists back.
The entry procedures, applying for Vietnam visa, etc. for foreigners will be gradually eased in 2022 and it is expected that by mid-2022, international tourists will be able to enter Vietnam easily.
