Vietnam has simplified the visa regime for Azerbaijani citizens, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported.
Azerbaijani citizens will now be able to obtain a visa upon arrival at Vietnam’s airports, the ministry said on October 31.
The agreement on visa simplification was reached after the issue was raised by Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Vietnam.
Azerbaijani citizens always faced many difficulties in obtaining Vietnam’s visa, because Vietnam does not have an embassy in Azerbaijan.
According to the new rules, Azerbaijani citizens only need to provide the relevant documents given by the Vietnamese travel agencies regarding their trip in order to get a visa.
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Vietnam Anar Imanov met Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in October.
Dung praised the recent opening of Azerbaijan’s embassy in Vietnam as an important event in terms of bilateral relations, and expressed interest in cooperation with Azerbaijan.
According to Imanov, the establishment of the embassy showed the high level of Azerbaijan’s interest in relations with Vietnam.
He also noted that the friendly relations between the two countries had a long history, and now there was a great potential for the development of bilateral relations.
Imanov also underlined the importance of opening Vietnam’s Embassy in Azerbaijan for the further development of relations between the two countries.
Dung said that the possibility of opening Vietnam’s Embassy in Azerbaijan was being considered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.
Vietnam recognized Azerbaijan’s independence on December 27, 1991, and the two countries established diplomatic relations on September 23, 1992. Vietnam – Azerbaijan relations have been brotherly and traditional.
Cooperation between the two countries is promising in the energy, agricultural, and tourism sectors.
