My An Festival

Objects of worship: General Vu Thanh (who made feats of arms in the struggle against the Yuan-Mongolian aggressors in the Tran Dynasty).
Characteristics: Mimic battle performance; throw offerings and vie for lucky; making cake contest.
San Pagoda Festival
Time: the 27th day of the second lunar month.
Place: Luc Nam District, Bac Giang Province.
Characteristics: Worshipping Buddha, setting up an altar to welcome flags from everywhere, offering to Buddha Trinity (the three treasure: Buddha, his law and the bonze), Duc Ong (His Royal Highness), the ten great halls, ancestral kowtowing, the Mau (Mother) kowtowing.
Suoi Mo Temple Festival
Time: The 1st day of the fourth lunar month.
Place: Suoi Mo Temple, Nghia Phuong Commune, Luc Nam District, Bac Giang Province.
Objects of worship: The Holy Mother of the Three Palaces.
Characteristics: Praying for people’s peaceful life and prosperous, good crops. Boys and girls sing giao duyen songs (singing dialogues between boys and girls).
Thai Dao Communal House Festival

Place: Thai Dao Communal House, Thai Dao Commune, Lang Giang District, Bac Giang Province.
Objects of worship: General Vu Thanh.
Characteristics: Traditional games: wrestling, swinging, human chess, Chinese chess, vying for ball.
Thang Village Festival
Time: The 7th day of the ninth lunar month.
Place: Thang Communal House, Duc Thang Commune, Hiep Hoa District, Bac Giang Province.
Objects of worship: Khong Minh Khong (the bonze of Ly Dynasty) – the ancestor of forge and Duong Tu Minh (a general of Ly Dynasty).
Characteristics: Sacrifices-offering ceremony and displaying forge instruments, contest of running to vie for flags, vying for ball and giving a feast to the troops in the middle of communal house’s yard.
Tho Ha Village Festival

Objects of worship: Dao Tri Tien (the ceramic ancestor of Tho Ha Village).

Characteristics: Spring festive day; selling and buying goods, local specialities.
Tram rung (canari falling) Festival
Time: The eighth lunar month.
Place: Dong Vuong Commune, Yen The District, Bac Giang Province.
Characteristics: The festival is held in the best house of the village. Offerings are canaries, which made from steamed glutinous rice. After worshipping, the steamed-glutinous-rice canaries are thrown for everyone to get for good luck.
Truc Tay Communal House Festival
Time: the 22nd day of the second lunar month.
Place: Viet Yen District, Bac Giang Province.
Objects of worship: The Saint Tam Giang.
Characteristics: Traditional games: skiff-rowing race, rowing boat for catching ducks
