People who got vaccinated are wondering whether they can enter Vietnam in this pandemic with Covid-19 vaccination certificate or not? If Vietnam Government allow vaccination certificate holders to enter the country, what should they prepare to get visa and visit Vietnam?
Vietnam start to get vaccination for the citizens from March 2021, and expect to reach public immunity at the end of 2021 or beginning of 2022. At that time, Vietnam will open the borders and allow the foreigners with vaccination certificate to enter. The vaccination certificate holders can apply visa and enter Vietnam with simplified requirements.
Vietnam closed the borders and started the entry restrictions for all foreigners as well as Vietnamese returning home from March 2020. From that time, all people cannot apply visa to enter Vietnam for all purpose. At the end of 2020, with the hope to develop the economic, Vietnam government opened visa application again for businessmen, investors, experts and high-tech workers. The business people can apply business visa to enter Vietnam from September 2020. Vietnam is also planning to re-issue tourist visa to welcome all tourists from well controlled pandemic countries, especially the countries with good vaccination program.
All foreigners wanting to enter Vietnam in pandemic period need to have a valid visa which approved by Vietnam immigration department. Moreover, a proof for Covid-19 immunity is a must, such as Covid-19 testing, vaccine passport or vaccination certificate. After entry, the foreigners have to be quarantined at hotels or governmental zones as required (the quarantine requirements will be lifted after pandemic is well controlled).
Updated in February 2022: Vietnam government approved the plan to grant visa and welcome international tourists to Vietnam from March 15, 2022.
