The Covid-19 pandemic situation in Vietnam is now under control. With the effort to re-open the travel industry which is closed from March 2020, Vietnam Government decided to lift the travel ban for international tourists. Vietnam will welcome the foreign tourists again by granting tourist visa.
Vietnam closed the borders to control Covid-19 pandemic from March 2020. Most of international flights are cancelled and visa applications are suspended. Only Vietnamese people returning home or Governmental officials can get entry permit. At that time, even you had valid visa, temporary resident card, visa exemption certificate or APEC card, you also are refused to enter Vietnam.
Vietnam has opened visa application at the end of 2020, however, it is visa for business purpose only. Only those who come for working, business or investment purpose can apply that type of visa. Tourist visa is still suspended because of pandemic outbreak.
And finally, with vaccination program which is carried out from March 2021, Vietnam is now well controlling the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result, Vietnam Government decided to lift the travel ban for international tourists, and step by step to open again the tourist visa application. Note: Vietnam government approved the plan to reopen tourism and welcome international tourist from March 15, 2022. Those who want to apply visa can visit this link to fill out the online application form and request for Vietnam visa application. Vietnam visa application will be available again from March 15, 2022. After processing time, visa result will be sent to applicant’s email.
Please note that, even Vietnam visa application is opened again, some entry restrictions might be applied when entering the country. Depending on the Covid-19 situation in the country you depart, a vaccine passport, vaccination certificate or negative Covid-19 testing must be provided. Health declaration is also required and quarantine might be applied.
