The same with 2019, Vietnam Government just issued the announcement about all national holidays schedule in 2020. People coming to Vietnam should have a look on below table and make a good prepare for your trip.

People who intend to apply visa should avoid these above holidays. It’s recommended to apply visa 5 days before these holidays. All the applications which submit in the holidays will be delayed to process when holiday ends.
Please note that Evisa and the visa issued at Vietnamese embassies and consulates are closed at Vietnamese holidays, so there is only one way to get visa on holiday: visa on arrival.
Visa on arrival is received at Vietnamese airports when you arrive. You must apply the approval letter online to get permission to get visa on arrival at the airport. This letter can be processed urgently at Vietnam holiday with the expedite fee. You can click on this link to check the price, processing time to get result and fill out the application form online. After successfully submitting your application, you just wait for processing, and then you will get the approval letter through email. After that, you print it out and submit at visa on arrival counter when you arrive.
The visa on arrival counter at the airport is the place all applicants who have the approval letter, come and submit visa request. It is opened at the weekend and holidays 24/7. Even you come at mid night or anytime, this counter is always available.
However, the number of people use visa on arrival at the holidays is much higher than the normal days. If you care about the time for waiting to get visa on arrival, as well as time to get in line at passport control counter, you can book the fast track service.
Applicants who don’t use fast track service need to get in line at visa on arrival counter and wait to their turn to submit application request. The waiting time is 20 – 40 minutes, depends on how many people do the visa on arrival procedure at the same time with them. They have to submit all required documents (passport, approval letter, 2 photos 3x4cm) and fill out an application form. After finishing the visa on arrival process, they officially get visa and come to passport control counter to do immigration check. They need to get in line the second time, and it takes another 30 minutes to finish this step.
For those using the fast track service, the service staff will pick up and support them to submit all document in the priority line, which help them to get visa very fast. And then check through Immigration passport control at VIP gate. The total time for whole process takes 5 – 10 minutes.
