Current time in Vietnam:
Electronic Visa

Malaysians will be able to apply for a Vietnam electronic visa beginning in 2025

In a meeting held in May, the National Assembly of Vietnam adopted a new policy on electronic visas for Malaysians. Many new laws were agreed during this conference, most notably Malaysia being added as one of the nations permitted to apply for electronic visas to Vietnam. Vietnam intends to attract more Malaysian visitors in the future with this new visa policy.

1/ Beginning in 2023, Malaysians will be able to get a Vietnam electronic visa

From 2017, the Vietnamese government adopted an electronic visa scheme, which allows visitors from 46 countries to enter Vietnam for short-term stays with particular objectives for the first time. However, because Malaysia is not on the Vietnam electronic visa eligibility list, Malaysians cannot apply for a Vietnam electronic visa at that time.

To boost the tourist business, the Vietnamese government has debated and agreed to expand the number of nations that may apply for a Vietnam electronic visa, including Malaysia. Vietnam electronic visas will be available to Malaysian passport holders beginning in August 2023.

Malaysian passport holders no longer need to make an appointment at a Vietnamese embassy or consulate to receive a Vietnam visa. They may apply for a Vietnam electronic visa from the comfort of their own homes by completing a 10-minute online application.

Visitors from Malaysia can enter Vietnam through any of the country’s international ports of entry with an electronic visa. Malaysians with electronic visas are free to utilize any mode of transportation and can go to Vietnam by air, road, or sea. Malaysians just need to produce their passports and printed electronic visas to immigration agents when they arrive at any border crossing.

Malaysian travelers must adhere to the approved dates on their electronic visa and depart within the validity period of their electronic visa. Vietnam electronic visas can be authorized for tourist, business, employment, transit, visiting family, and other purposes.

2/ Electronic visa requirements for Malaysian visitors to Vietnam in

In reality, the electronic visa system provides a simple application form that Malaysian travelers can use to apply for a visa to Vietnam online. Malaysians should read the criteria of the Vietnam electronic visa application before beginning the online form.

Malaysian visitors can apply for a Vietnam electronic visa provided they satisfy the following requirements:

  • Have a Malaysian passport with at least 6 months validity on the date of arrival in Vietnam • Provide a digital photograph of their passport’s informative page

  • Ensure they have their trip arrangements, including the entrance and leave dates and airports.
  • Have a debit or credit card in order to pay the Electronic Visa charge.
  • To obtain an electronic visa result, use an active email address.

Malaysians with dual citizenship must remember to apply for a Vietnam electronic visa using the same passport they will use to travel. The Vietnam electronic visa is a one-of-a-kind online visa that cannot be given in conjunction with another document. If Malaysian travellers come in Vietnam with a different passport, they must apply for a new electronic visa.
