In a conference in May 2023, the National Assembly of Vietnam recently approved a new policy regarding Electronic visas for Thai nationals. During this meeting, numerous new policies were approved, including the addition of Thailand to the list of countries eligible to apply for an electronic visa to Vietnam. Vietnam believes this new visa policy will attract more Thai travelers in the future.
1/ Vietnam electronic visa is available to Thai citizens beginning in 2023
The Vietnamese government implemented the electronic visa program in 2017, making it available for the first time to 46 countries for temporary visits to Vietnam for specified purposes. However, Thailand is not on the Vietnam electronic visa eligibility list, so Thai citizens cannot submit for a Vietnam electronic visa at this time.
To enhance the tourism industry, the government of Vietnam has deliberated and decided to expand the number of countries eligible to apply for an electronic visa to Vietnam, including Thailand. Beginning in August 2023, the Vietnam electronic visa will be available to Thai passport holders.
No longer must Thai passport holders make an appointment to obtain a Vietnam visa at a Vietnamese embassy or consulate. They can apply for a Vietnam e-visa from the comfort of their own residences by completing a standard 10-minute online application.
Visitors from Thailand can enter Vietnam through any of its international entry points with an electronic visa. With an electronic visa, Thai nationals are free to travel by air, land, or sea by any means they choose. Thailand nationals are only required to present their passport and printed electronic visa to immigration officers upon arrival at any border crossing.
Thai travelers must adhere to the authorized dates on their electronic visa and depart within the visa’s validity period. The Vietnam electronic visa can be approved for tourism, commerce, working, transit, visiting relatives, and other purposes.

Dual-citizenship Thai nationals must remember to register for a Vietnam e-visa using the same passport they will travel with. Step 1: Complete your visa information electronically
Thailand nationals will be required to provide personal and visa information on the visa application form. In addition, Thai citizens must select their purpose of visit (such as business or tourism), form of electronic visa, date of arrival, date of departure, and port of entry.

Step 4: Receive an Electronic Vietnam visa

The procedure for obtaining a Vietnam visa will be streamlined beginning in 2023, when Thai nationals will be able to obtain an electronic visa.
