Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam – Mr. Nguyen Van Hung – has just signed the document submitted to the Prime Minister proposing a roadmap to open international tourism activities for all international tourists entering Vietnam from March 2022. This proposal is being considered by Vietnam government and is expected to be approved soon, ready to welcome foreign tourists back to Vietnam after nearly 2 years of stagnation due to the pandemic.
Specifically, according to the proposal, from now until March 15, 2022, Vietnam will continue phase 2 of the pilot program to welcome international tourists, in which expanding the destinations allowed to welcome tourists (areas vaccinated with the 3rd dose and the green zone is allowed to welcome tourists).
Testing can be done at the destination (accommodation), tourists can go to the areas where they are allowed to pick up, regardless of domestic tourists or international tourists, and no restriction on the travel duration.
In the period from March 15, 2022, Vietnam will fully open international tourism activities, welcoming international tourists to Vietnam (inbound) and bringing domestic tourists to travel abroad (outbound) through all international border gates.
Regarding regulations for welcoming international tourists to Vietnam, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requires that international tourists must have received full dose of recognized Covid-19 vaccine for at least 14 days before entry; or have a certificate of recovery from COVID-19 within 6 months from entry time (there are separate regulations for children and people who have not had enough doses); and have certificate of RT-PCR Covid-19 negative test within 72 hours before departure; and purchase health insurance that covers Covid-19 treatment at a minimum of US$50,000.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam also proposed to restore all international routes from February 15, 2022, at the same time, resuming the visa exemption policy for 24 countries like before Covid-19 pandemic, resuming the electronic visa system for 82 countries and territories, creating favorable conditions for tourists to entry into Vietnam.
Thus, Vietnam is ready to welcome tourists back after a very long period of closure because of Covid-19.
