I am planning to visit Vietnam in 2022. Can I enter Vietnam in this pandemic with my vaccination certificate or do I need to prepare any other documents? What are Vietnam entry requirements for foreigners in Covid-19 period?
Because of Covid-19, Vietnam closed the borders from March 2020, as well as stopped to grant visa for all foreigners to control the pandemic. Furthermore, all people with valid visa, visa exemption certificate, TRC, APEC card also are not allowed to enter in this period. At the same time, Vietnam government temporarily stopped visa exemption program for all countries, included UK, France, Italy, Spain, etc. All 14-day, 15-day, 21-day and 30-day free visa cases cannot enter Vietnam in Covid-19 period.
As the result of well control the pandemic in 2020, Vietnam government decided to grant visa again for business people. Those who enter Vietnam for business purpose and have sponsor company in Vietnam can apply visa to come to Vietnam from September 2020. Before entry date, Covid-19 testing must be done by Real Time PCR method.
Many countries in the world are getting vaccinated for their citizens, included Vietnam. Vietnam now planning to open the borders to welcome visitors again if they get vaccinated. And a vaccination certificate will be required when entering Vietnam. However, vaccination certificate is not the only documents you need to prepare. All foreigners need to apply a valid visa before boarding the airplane.
Updated in February 2022: Vietnam government approved the plan to grant visa and welcome international tourists to Vietnam from March 15, 2022.
